Gokyo fifth Lake trekking has large glaciers and lakes close to the base camp of Choyu [8,201 meters/26,906ft]. This is a popular and classic trek in the upper Khumbu valley. The Khumbu region is comprehensively one of the most popular and spectacular destinations for nature, culture and mountain viewer and offers the best opportunity to achieve the Himalayan experience.

 This trek begins with a dramatic scenic flight to Lukla [2,840 meters/9,317ft]. On the second day, we arrive at Namche Bazaar where acclimatization is required for the trekkers, resting for one day. This trek takes in the ascent of Gokyo Ri [5,380 meters/17,650ft], from where you will have breathtaking views and eye-catching scenery. There are five attractive turquoise Lakes and many glacial lakes in the surrounding area, which is most attractive for adventurers.

 The main destination is Gokyo Ri [5,380 meters/17,650ft], of this trek, from where we can have fascinating Himalayan views and eye-catching sceneries including the world’s highest peak Mt. Everest [8,848 meters/29,029ft], Choyu [8,201 meters/26,906ft], Lhotse [8,516 meters/27,939ft], and Makalu [8,464 meters/27,769ft], the fourth highest in the world and many more others below [8,000 meters/26,246ft], white snow-capped peaks can be seen.

 Sagarmatha National Park is listed as a world heritage site, which covers the Everest region trek and offers spectacular views of the high mountains, as well as the warm hospitality of Sherpa people, who break records to climb Everest the highest mountain in the world. Himalayan wildlife commonly seen is musk deer, Himalayan goat (Jharal), colorful pheasants (Lophophorus) and possibly the Monal, the national bird of Nepal. Rare species of Red Panda and Snow Leopard are also another attraction for visitors. Pine and birch trees are common here, as well as colorful rhododendron flowers welcomes you in the spring. Monasteries can be found in most places in the lower Khumbu region and fluttering prayer flags can be seen everywhere. This is a popular classic trek making it a once in a lifetime experience.

Introduction of the Trail

The complete trek kicks off from Lukla, after having from Kathmandu 35 minutes of scenic flight to Lukla. There are other ways to reach the Himalaya from Jiri or from Phaplu, whatever the flight is the best option for those with limited time. The Gokyo fifth lake trekking is one of the most thrilling adventures and picturesque trek for excitement-seekers. The trail towards to ahead through beautiful Sherpa villages, mani walls, beautifully carved stones, fluttering flags, with captivating Mountain View. After 2 days of the exhilarating trek, we will reach the Sherpa Capital Namche bazaar [3,440 meters/11,286ft].

It is very beautiful with surrounding glowing Mountain View as well as the Sherpa’s fascinating culture and uniqueness lifestyle. The adventurers are spent a couple of nights in Namche Bazaar for acclimatization before the hike to higher lands. The departure of Namche bazaar our trail can be separate from the famous Everest Base Camp trail if we make a trip through Khumjung village. After an hour of pleasant trekking along the smooth trail, our route climbs up to Mong danda for Gokyo fifth lake.  Moreover, our steps move to uphill through birch, pine, and rhododendron forest and treeless lands with stunning Cholatse and Cho yu mountains view. Finally, we kick the Gogyo Ri [5,357 meters/17,575ft], for a captivating mountain panoramic view and return to Lukla via the same way.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu Airport [1,350 meters/4,429ft], transfer to hotel.

Day 02: Take off to Lukla & trek begins to Phakding village [2,610m/8,563ft], 2. 5hrs.

Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar [3,440m/11,286ft], 5hrs.

Day 04: Hike to Everest view Hotel [3,870m/12,697ft], for Mountain View.

Day 05: Trek to Phortse thanga [3,680m/12,073ft], 4 – 5 hours.

Day 06: Trek to Machhermo [4,470m/14,665ft], 7 hours.

Day 13 Valley sightseeing Kathamandu/ Patan/ Bhaktapur.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu Tribhuvan international airport [1,350 meters/4,429ft] transfer to hotel:

Welcome to the land of white glowing mountains. Before your landing in Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, the representative from Himalayan Diamond Adventure will have reached there to welcome you.  You will have welcome dinner in Nepali cultural dance restaurant with your guide’s briefing about the day program tomorrow. The hotel service includes bed and breakfast.

Day 02: We take from Kathmandu a scenic flight early in the morning to Lukla & trek begins to Phakding village [2,610 meters/8,563ft], 3 hours of soothing trek:

We will have 35 minutes of scenic flight in the morning from Kathmandu to Lukla Hillary airport, the most famous airport in the world. If the weather is favorable, during the flight, we will be sightseeing the most magnificent and sensational view of northern and eastern Himalaya vistas before our landing in Lukla airstrip [2,860 meters/ 9,383ft].  After a few minutes’ of a short break in the Lukla Bazaar, we set out to scenic journey to Phakding village. The entire track crosses through famous mountaineering Sherpa villages, lodges, shops, gompas (monasteries), mani walls, prayer stones, fluttering prayer flags, and more than two well-made suspension bridges with the fascinating landscape on the way to Phakding. Today, we spend overnight at Phakding in a lodge.

Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar the Sherpa people’s capital [3,440 meters/11,286ft], walk 5 hours uphill:

Today, we trek to Namche Bazaar [3,440 meters/11,286ft], the main entrance gateway of Khumbu valley and the capital of Sherpa people. Today, we walk about 5 to 6 hours to reach Namche Bazaar from the Phakding village. The trail more slightly ascends up following Dudh Koshi River to confluence (Dovan) of Buddha Koshi and Bhote Koshi River. Finally, we push up strenuous uphill via a weaving trail to Namche Bazaar.

We will cross 5 well-made suspension bridges including Hillary Bridge and few small wooden bridges, Sherpa settlements, mani walls, prayer stones, waterfalls, rhododendron, and blue pine forests. While walking on the way, probably the wild animals and birds can be appeared such as Himalayan goat (Thar), Jharal, musk deer and Himalayan pheasant Lophophorus (Danphe) a colorful bird.

Day 04: We hike to Everest view Hotel [3,870 meters/12,697 ft] for Mountain View including Everest. Visit Khumjung valley, Hillary school:

After breakfast, we go on a hike to the Everest View Hotel, located at 3,870 meters (12,697ft) for stunning Mountain panorama of Amadablam, Thamserku, Lhotse, the Everest, and Tukche. Then our trip continues for the worth sightseeing of Khumjung valley. After a wonderful side trip, we head back to Namche Bazaar. Finally, we visit the mountain museum in Namche. We stay in a lodge (service includes dinner and breakfast with a hot drink like tea and coffee).

Day 05: Trek to Phortse Thanga [3,680 meters/12,073ft], walk 4 – 5 hours:

After a usual breakfast, we leave for Phortse Thanga [3,680 meters/12,073ft]. We make the trek along the Everest base camp trekking route at the beginning parts, and then we steeply ascend up to Mong Danda [3,900 meters/12,795ft], more scenic and sensational way. Mong Danda is a fabulous point for the panoramic view. Such as Porsche village, Tengboche monastery, Pangboche, and Amadablam valley. From Mong hill, the trail descends to Phortse Tenga ravine land. Phortse Tenga lies in the bank of Dudh Khola. We spend overnight at a lodge (service includes dinner and breakfast with a hot drink like tea and coffee).

Day 06: Trek to Machhermo [4,470 meters/14,665ft], walk 7 hours:

After breakfast, our trek continues to climb uphill to Dole village through the shady pine and rhododendron forest. After passing a few lodges, the trail ascends to Machhermo, a Sherpa inhabited settlement through wilderness yak pasture lands with magnificent Mountain View. Today, the track crosses the dense rhododendron, pine and juniper forest below of Dole village, and then wide pasture lands and Sherpa lodges. Overnight at a lodge (service includes dinner and breakfast with a hot drink like tea and coffee).

Day 07: Trek to Gokyo Lake [4,790 meters/15,715ft], walk 4 hours:

Today, we trek to Gokyo Lake [4,790 meters/15,715ft]. Its dramatic beauty with turquoise and calmness will amaze you. The lodges are scattered in the bank of the fifth lake. We gradually ascend way up for a short walk, then our trail moves to edge of Dudh Koshi Khola. And wide gentle valley.

Walking off halfway, we reach Ngozumpa glacier from where we will see beautiful lakes with the glorious mountain view.  After crossing the fourth turquoise lakes, we reach Gokyo town. We spend overnight at a lodge (service includes dinner and breakfast with a hot drink like tea and coffee).

Day 08: Hike to Gokyo Ri [5,380 meters/17,650ft], for the bird’s eye view:

After breakfast, we trek steeply up way to Gokyo Ri [5,380 meters/17,650ft], for a captivating mountain view. On a clear day, we can see views of  4 over [8,000 meters /26,246ft], mountains like Mt. Cho Oyu [8,201 meters/26,906ft], Mt. Everest [8,848 meters/29,029ft], Mt. Lhotse [8,516 meters/27,939ft], and Mt. Makalu [8,463 meters/27,765ft], along with breathtaking landscape of  Ngozumpa glacier and beautiful Lakes. We stay at Gokyo lodge (service includes dinner and breakfast with a hot drink like tea and coffee).

Day 09: After fabulous Gokyo fifth Lake trek head back to Dole [4,110 meters/13,484ft], walk down 6 hours:

 After a scenic Gokyo fifth lakes trek and sensational Mountain View in this region, we switch back to Dole by via the same way today. We stay at a lodge (service includes dinner and breakfast with a hot drink like tea and coffee).

Day 10: We trek head back to Namche [3,440 meters/11,286ft], walk 6 hours:

We trek steeply to downhill to Porsche Thang [3,680 meters/12,073ft], an hour under the birch, pine, and rhododendron tree. And then we walk up to Mong danda [3,900 meters/12,795ft]. Again, we have a magnificent Mountain View. From Mong danda, our route gently descends to Namche. Overnight at the lodge included dinner and breakfast service with a hot drink like tea and coffee.

Day 11: Trek Lukla [2,860 meters/9,383ft], walk 7 hours continue downhill:

Leaving from Namche Bazaar, the Sherpa capital, we descend steeply downhill to the meeting point of Dudh Kosi River and Bhote Kosi River. Then,  the trail weaves up and down many times before reaching Lukla. Overnight at a lodge (service includes dinner and breakfast with a hot drink like tea and coffee).

Day 12: A scenic flight Lukla to Kathmandu [1,350 meters/4,429ft], transfer to hotel:

Today, we have a scenic flight Lukla to Kathmandu airport. After reaching Kathmandu, we will move to our hotel included bed and breakfast service. Evening farewell dinner with tourist standard restaurant.

Day 13 Full day Sightseeing of Kathmandu Valley [1,350 meters/4,429ft], with a proficient tour guide, private vehicle service:

Kathmandu, being a (UNESCO world heritage sites), the historical and cultural heart of Nepal, is a popular destination for tourists, trekkers, and adventure seekers. The city presents a wonderful mixture of Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism, and Western influence in the Valley. Patan and Bhaktapur are its two major neighboring cities that bear immense historical, cultural, and religious significance. There will be a half-day guided tour to the famous & biggest Hindu shrine Pashupatinath temple, the largest Buddhist stupa in town Boudhanath, the 15th-century palace of 55 windows Bhaktapur, and Swayambhunath stupa. In the evening, we will have a farewell dinner.

Day 14: Departure for home, we drop you at Tribhuvan International Airport. Say goodbye:

We drop you in Tribhuvan International Airport in the terminal room as per your flight departure time by tourist Bus or a Car and say goodbye.

We provide you with sufficient and hygienic meals and dessert with hot drinks as your choice and book clean and comfortable rooms (hotel) on a mountain in advance of your trip to mountain lodges.

There are more than 300 different trekking routes and 326 peaks open for climbing including 20 royalty-free peaks. Climbing peaks have been divided into 3 categories: A, B and C. in Nepal, we will help you to organize the trip according to your time, budget and choice.
