The classic Gokyo fifth lake including Chola La pass and Everest Base Camp Trek has become high demanding adventurous trail among them numerous trekking routes of Nepal. The Gokyo Fifth Lake Trekking lies in UNESCO world heritage site Sagarmatha National Park, the Everest area in the eastern and northern parts of Nepal.

This trip is very famous for turquoise lakes, challenging Chola high pass 5,368 meters (17,611 ft), and the world’s famous Everest Base Camp. After the successful scale of the Everest by Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa in 1953, and Khumbu valley has been become a more touristic destination, due to its unbelievable beauty of nature, the uniqueness of Buddhist culture, and warm hospitality Sherpa people. At the moment hundreds and thousands of tourists visit Khumbu valley every season.

The classic Gokyo, Chola Pass, and Everest Base Camp Trek offer glowing white mountains view and very stimulating trip. The region is rich in flora and fauna. The rhododendron tree blooms throughout the hedgerows splashing the color of joy and perfection. And, ground-hugging rhododendron, juniper, and alpine flowers. Introduction of the Trail

The complete Gokyo Lake, Chola high pass, and EBC trek set off from Lukla, after taking 35 minutes of scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. There are other ways to reach the Himalaya from Jiri or from Phaplu, however, the flight is the best option for those with limited time. The Gokyo fifth lake, Chola high pass, and EBC trekking is one of the most thrilling adventures and picturesque trek for excitement-seekers. The trail towards to ahead through beautiful Sherpa villages, cultivated farmlands, mani walls, beautifully carved stones, fluttering flags, with captivating Mountain View. After 2 days of the exhilarating trek, we will reach the Sherpa Capital Namche bazaar 3,440 meters (11,286 ft).

It is very beautiful with surrounding glowing Mountain View as well as the Sherpa’s fascinating culture and uniqueness lifestyle. The adventurers are spent a couple of nights in Namche Bazaar for acclimatization before the hike to higher lands. The departure of Namche bazaar our trail can be separated from the famous Everest Base Camp trail if we make a trip through Khumjung village. After an hour of pleasant trekking along the smooth trail, our route climbs up to Mong danda for Gokyo fifth Lake.  Moreover, our steps move to uphill through birch, pine, and rhododendron mixed forest and tundra lands with stunning Cholatse and Cho yu mountain views. Today we hike to  Gokyo Ri 5,380 meters (17,650 ft) the best panoramic viewpoint in this area. On a clear day, it's best to hike for the sunset view than the sunrise. From the top of the peak, we can see a panoramic view of Mount Everest. After the ultimate of the Gokyo valley trip, we make challenging Chola high pass 5,368 meters (17,611 ft), for the popular Everest base camp trek.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu Trivuwan international airport 1,350 meters (4,429ft), transfers to Hotel:

Accommodation: 3 Stars standard of Hotel in Thamel.

Transportation: Tourist bus or car.

Meals: Welcome Dinner, Breakfast, and including drinks.

Welcome to the land of white glowing mountains. Before your landing in Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, the representative from Himalayan Diamond Adventure will have reached there to welcome you. After landing your aircraft, we come to pick you up with our welcome greetings. Collecting your luggage, we drop you off to Hotel. This evening company will organize welcome dinner in the Nepali cultural dance restaurant with your guide’s briefing about the day program of tomorrow.

Day 02: Scenic flight; early in the morning (Kathmandu to Lukla) & trek to Phakding village:

Maximum Elevation: 2,860m (9,383 ft).

Trekking hours: 2.5 hrs, 200m descent, 50m ascent.

Accommodation: Lodge.

Meals: Lunch, Dinner, Breakfast with hot drinks.

Early in the morning, we take 40 minutes of scenic mountain flight from Kathmandu to Lukla Hillary airport, the most famous airport in the world. If the weather is favorable, during the flight, we will be sightseeing the most magnificent view of northern and eastern Himalaya vistas before our landing in Lukla airstrip 2,860 meters (9,383 ft). After a few minutes’ breaks in Lukla bazaar, we set out our scenic journey to Phakding village. It’s a way of 2 hrs and 30 minutes for the normal trekkers. It is an easy day for regular hikers. Then our trail leads through the famous mountaineering Sherpa villages. Such as lodges, shops, gompas (monasteries), mani walls, prayer stones, fluttering flags, and two well-made suspension bridges, tributaries, and cultivated lands. Entirely day today we will great experience. Today all the time we walk along the gentle way to reach Phakding village 2,610 meters (8,563ft). Phakding is a small bunch of Sherpa villages, where is the availability of clean and comfortable lodges, shops, with internet service.

Day 03: Head over to Namche bazaar, the capital of Sherpa people:

Elevation: 3,440 meters (11,286 ft).

Trekking hours: 5 hours, 1000m ascent, 100m descent.

Accommodation: Lodge the attached bathroom.

Meals: B, L, D with hot drinks.

Today we journey to Namche bazaar 3,440 meters (11,286 ft), the main entrance gateway of Khumbu valley. It is known for the Sherpa capital, It is naturally and culturally beautiful. Where is the availability of luxurious Hotels, banks, shops, trekking equipment, and climbing gears, bakery, and café, bar-restaurant, and governmental administrative offices for Sagarmatha Pollution Control Community (SPCC) with  Internet services?  Today several times we walk uphill. It takes about 5 to 6 hours for a normal trekker from Phakding. From Phakding our trail gradually ascends following up the Dudh Koshi River to the confluence of Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi River (Dovan). Finally, we climb the snaked up way approach to Namche. Today we cross 5 well-made suspension bridges over sparking Dudh Koshi River, including Hillary Bridge and few small wooden bridges, such as authentic Buddhist cultured places, Mani walls, prayer Stones, waterfalls, tributaries of Dudh Koshi River, rhododendron, and blue pine’s mixed forests with Magnificent Mount Thamserku view and some neighboring mountains views. During the trekking, probably we can see the wild animals and birds on the way, such as Himalayan goat (Thar), Jharals, musk deer and Himalayan pheasant Laphoforous (Danphe) a colorful bird.

About 2 to 3 hours of taking a walk we reach Sagarmatha National Park's main entry gate at Jorsalle from Phakding. Where is the required permit of travelers? We stop over there to present our permit in the Checkpoint and then we carry on towards to next stop for the lunch break. After crossing the second suspension bridge of Jorsalle village then there is no availability of Lodges and Restaurants, so whether trekkers have to reach Namche for lunch or eat lunch at the last place of Jorsalle. Everyone has that dream to see Mt. Everest one time in life being closed up. Today It comes true if the weather will be clear on the Everest side. After short climbing from Hillary bridge, Mount Everest will be visible in front of us.

Day 04: We go on a hike to the Everest View Hotel for the stupendous panoramic mountains view:

Maximum elevation: 3,870m (12,697 ft).

Visit: Khumjung village and Hillary school.

Accommodation: Lodge.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner with hot drinks.

After breakfast, we go on a hike to the Everest View Hotel, established at the highest elevation in the world, 3,870 meters (12,697 ft), for majestic Mountains view. During the day trip, the Everest view hotel's balcony presents the best panoramic view of Everest such as Amadablam, Thamserku, Lhotse, and Taboche, and many more other neighboring Mountains view. Then our journey continues to Khumjung village for sightseeing. After the wonderful side trip of Sherpa authentic Khumjung village. We head back to Namche Bazaar with splendid views. At the end of our side trip, we visit the mountain museum in Namche. Today there are lots of options to visit. Go hiking to Thame valley or little hiking into the Namche Bazar.

Day 05: Trek to Phortse Thanga, with bird's eye view:

Maximum elevation: 3,680 meters (12,073 ft).

Trekking duration: 4 hours, ascent 530m, descent 290m.

Accommodation: Lodge.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner with hot drinks.

After the as usual breakfast time, we check out for Phortse Thanga 3,680 meters (12,073 ft). At the starting of the day, we make a pleasant trek, the trail is like a high way. About taking a walk 2 hours along the popular EBC trekking route, then Gokyo Lake trail separates with EBC high way. We ascend steeply uphill to Mongla Danda 3,900 meters (12,795 ft), with spectacular surrounding mountains view likewise beautiful serene. Mongla Danda is the best viewpoint for the panoramic view. We stop over there for the refreshment and hot lunch. After hot lunch hour, we trek down to the Phortse Thenga ravine valley. It's on the bank of Dudh Khola. We spent overnight there.

Day 06: Phorche Thenga to Machhermo uphill trail:

Trekking duration: 6 hours, ascent 730m.

Accommodation: Lodge.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner with hot drinks.

After the regular morning activities, we start our journey for Mochhermo 4,470m (14,665 ft). Today our journey begins with climbing a steep hill to reach Dole village under the blue pine, rhododendron, and birch mixed forest. The rhododendron flower blooms splashing it's pleasant color into the jungle in the blooming season like April and May. About 2 to 3 hours of tough uphill climbing we reach Dole, then the trail gets easier but it is considerable with altitude. After passing Dole village again needs the next short steep climbing to reach Laphorma Sherpa inhabited village through the barren hillside, tundra, and doted scrub junipers, and then our trail gets easier and the path soon reaches Machhermo. The day is harder than the last couple of days, however, the day passes with magnificent landscape. Today, entirely day the landscape is Dominated by Mt Cholatse view.

Day 07: Trek to Gokyo Lake (Dudh Pokhari):

Maximum elevation: 4,790 meters (15,715 ft).

Trekking duration: 4 hours, ascent 350m.

Accommodation: Lodge.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner with hot drinks.

About 7 days of beautiful serene alpine hill trek, today we reach the Gokyo glacier Lake 4,790 meters (15,715 ft). It is dramatically beautiful with it's a turquoise color, calmness, and spectacular mountain's reflection on the Lakes. The lodges are in the line up in the bank of the third Lake. About 4 hours off walking the slightly uphill way we reach to Gokyo Lakes. It's on the moraine, the trail is indicated by rock cairns. Today our trek begins with the steep hill climbing for a short distance, then the trail runs to the edge of Dudh Khola. While we are walking along the ridge of Dudh Khola, we can see good views of Cholatse 6,335m and north Cho Oyu 8,201m the sixth -highest mountain in the world, likewise view of Nala village and Ngozumpa glacier in front of us and backward Kangtega 6'685m.

Finally, the trail passes below the giant hill Chadoten 5,360m and through the Ngozumpa moraine to reach beautiful lakes. The Lakes offer ultimate of pleasant views to trekkers though the trekkers can forget their whole fatigue. It is difficult with altitude and moraine trail, however, the best picturesque day for the nature lovers in the last couple of days.

Hike to Gokyo Ri 5,357 meters (17,575 ft):

Trekking hours: 3 hours, 570m ascent, 570 descent.

Accommodation: Lodge.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner with hot drinks.

Today we hike to  Gokyo Ri 5,380 meters (17,650 ft) the best panoramic viewpoint in this area. On a clear day, it's best to hike for the sunset view than the sunrise. From the top of the peak, we can see a panoramic view of Mount Everest. The evening rays of the sun hit the world's highest peak in an amazing red glow. There are come along with 4 over 8,000 meters (26,246 ft), mountain views such as Mt. Cho Oyu 8,201 meters (26,906 ft), Mt. Everest 8,848 meters (29,029 ft), Mt. Lhotse 8,516 meters (27,939 ft), and Mt. Makalu 8,463 meters (27,765 ft), and many sprawling such as a mushrooms neighboring mountains view. Gokyo Ri is the best viewpoint for beautiful Gokyo Lakes (Dudh Pokhari), and Ngozumpa glacier).

Day 09: Exploration of Ngozumpa glacier and trek to Thagnag:

Maximum elevation: 4,700 meters (15,419 ft).

Trekking duration: 2 hours, 120m ascent, 100m descent.

Accommodation: Lodge.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner with hot drinks.

After the morning breakfast, we hike to Fifth Lake following up the edge of the Ngozumpa glacier. About 2 hours off walking on the rugged lands we reach Gokyo fifth Lake. It's an enchanting Lake with a reflection of the view of the mountains. We head back to our lodge at lunchtime then we leave straightway for the

Thagnag 4,700 meters (15,420 ft). We have to traverse the Ngozumpa glacier to each Thagnag. It's a way of 2 hours for the normal trekkers.

Day 10: The moraine trail rises up to Cho La pass 5,375 meters (17,634 ft):

Maximum elevation: 4,830 meters (15,846 ft).

Trekking duration: 7 hours, ascent 590m, descent 540m.

Accommodation: Lodge.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner with hot drinks.

Today is the toughest day for the trekkers. It's 7 to 8 hours of high pass and moraine and glacier trail. The Chola pass is probably a risk of rockfall and avalanche in the snowfall seasons, however, the pass presents great backdrop view and exhilarating experience. There is no availability of the Tea house or Lodge before reaching Zonglha. Since to keep away from the risks we have to carry enough packed lunch, water, Tea, Coffee, and some cold drinks for the way from our lodge and we can start our trip at dawn with the headlamp.

Today at beginning of the trip the trail gradually ascends to the summer Yaks grazing lands and then traverse the moraines. On the last stage of the uphill way, we steeply climb on the slabs rock to get the Chola pass  5,375 meters (17,634 ft), then the trail slightly drops to Zonglha beneath the rocky hill.

Day 11: Trek to Gorap-she, catch up EBC trail.

Maximum elevation: 5,171 meters (16,965 ft).

Trekking duration: 6 hours, ascent 300m descent 100m.

Accommodation: Lodge.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner with hot drinks.

After as usual morning breakfast time, we get ready to move for Gorap-She Lodge 5,170 meters (16,965 ft), the last permanently inhabited settlement at the   Everest Base Camp trekking trail. The path moves towards Gorap-She through the stones, gravels, and moraines following the edge of the Khumbu glacier. Today is a difficult day than the last couple of days due to the high altitude and glacial moraine trail, however, the trekkers can enjoy awesome encircular mountains view. If there is weather favorable and you are fit and fine for a further walk, we can climb to Kalopathar hill 5,550 meters (18,208 ft) in a single day for the stunning Sunset view of Mount Everest. After taking a mesmerizing sunset view, we head back to GorapShe lodge.

Day 12: Trek to EBC, the final destination for EBC trekkers and switch back to Pheriche:

Maximum Elevation: 5,364 meters (17,598 ft).

Trekking hours: 5 hours, 200m ascent, 200 descent for EBC.

Back trek: to Pheriche 4 hours, 750m descent,70m ascent.

Accommodation: Lodge:

Meals: B, L, D with hot drinks.

It was a dream to reach the world's highest peak's base bamp 5,400 meters (17,716 ft), It will come true by today, so, we are very excited to see the Everest base came. After regular morning activities, we head out for Everest base camp. The base camp trail runs towards Everest base camp through the glacial moraine with a magnificent mountain view. The stones can fall on the trail, in the snowfall season, so, we have to pay attention to rocks fall on a sunny day. About 2 hours of glacial moraine walk, we reach Everest Base Camp. There are we can meet many climbers, Sherpa, guides, suppliers (Yaks), and Trekkers on the way of Everest Base Camp in the climbing seasons. The EBC is a full house with a sprawling climber's tents, Cairnes, and fluttering Longdars. It looks awesome. It is a really great day for adventure dreamers. After taking a joyful time, capturing some Khumbu Icefall pictures with our faces, we switch back to Gorap-She for hot lunch. After fabulous EBC trek, we switch back to Pheriche via almost the same way.

Day 13: Head back to Namche bazaar almost via the same route:

Elevation: 3,440 meters (11,286 ft).

Trekking hours: 9 hours, 420m ascent, 1300m descent.

Accommodation: Lodge with a well-attached bathroom.

Meals: Breakfast/ Lunch/Dinner with hot drinks.

After a fabulous successful Everest base camp trek, today we trek back to Namche bazaar via the almost the same way. We take a departure to Pangboche following downstream for a short walk then trail rises up to Tengboche monastery, and then the trail drops steeply to Phungi Thanga, Cross well-made suspension bridge over Dudh Koshi River, then the trail ascends to Sanasa- Kyangjuma. At the end of the day, we take a walk via Khumbu high way to reach Namche.

Day 14: Finally we trek back to Lukla, where our trip ends:

Elevation: 2,860 meters (9,383 ft).

Trekking hours: 8 hours, 960m descent, 250m ascent.

Accommodation: Lodge.

Meals: Breakfast/ Lunch/ Dinner with hot drinks.

Departing from Namche bazaar, the Sherpa capital, we trek downhill meeting point of Dudh Koshi River and Bhote Kosi River. It calls Dovan in the Nepali language. Then the trail runs Lukla via the same our previous trekking route. Finally, our lifetime experience trip will end at Lukla. Today we will celebrate our fascinating trekking with some drinking and dancing or sharing some presents. 

Day 15: We take a flight from Lukla to Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel:

Elevation: 1,350 meters (4,429 ft).

Transportation: Aeroplane/ Tourist bus/ Car.

Accommodation: 3 Stars standard of Hotel in Thamel.

Meals: Breakfast.

After making a successful and lifetime experience Everest base camp trekking, we will fly back to Kathmandu Trivuwan international airport and transfer to Hotel included bed and breakfast service. Evening we will organize a farewell dinner.

Day 16 Full day Sightseeing to UNESCO world heritage site:

Transportation: Private vehicle service.

Permits: Entry Permits of Patan, Bhaktapur, and Kathmandu.

Accommodation: 3 Stars standard of Hotel in Thamel.

Meals: Farewell Dinner and Breakfast.

Kathmandu, being a (UNESCO the world heritage sites), historical and cultural heart of Nepal, is a popular destination for tourists, trekkers, and adventure seekers. The city presents a wonderful mixture of Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism, and Western influence in the Valley. Patan and Bhaktapur are its two major neighboring cities that bear immense historical, cultural, and religious significance. There will be a half-day guided tour to the famous & biggest Hindu shrine Pashupatinath temple, the largest Buddhist stupa in town Boudhanath, the 15th-century palace of 55 windows Bhaktapur and Soyambhunath Stupa. In the evening, we again meet fare-well dinner.

Day 17: Departure for home, drop you off in Tribhuwan international airport:

Transportation: Private vehicle service.

Meals: Breakfast.

We drop you off at Tribhuwan international airport at the terminal room before your flight checking time by tourist Bus or a Car and forbade the hands to see you off to your home.

Equipment/ Gears service:

We provide you (-25*C) down-filled sleeping bag and (-20*C) down-filled jacket (Pay extra $2 each item each day). For mountaineers if you do not have your own climbing gear we will provide you climbing gears on hire at a reasonable price particularly for your convenience, such Union of International Alpinist Association (UIAA) tested gears. Like a Black Diamond, Helmet, Harness, Crampon, Jumar ATC guide or Figure of 8, Ice axe, Carabiners, and La Sportiva alpine boot.

We provide you with sufficient and hygienic meals and dessert with hot drinks as your choice and book clean and comfortable rooms (hotel) on a mountain in advance of your trip to mountain lodges.

Packaging trips service:

There are more than 300 different trekking routes and 326 peaks open for climbing including 20 royalty-free peaks. Climbing peaks have been divided in 3 categories: A, B and C. in Nepal, we will help you to organize the trip according to your time, budget and choice. We organize the trip for especial solitary (alone) personal as well as packaged trips for big groups.
