The classic Gokyo fifth lake including Chola La pass and Everest Base Camp Trek has become high demanding adventurous trail among them numerous trekking routes of Nepal. The Gokyo Fifth Lake Trekking lies in Sagarmatha National Park, the Everest area in the eastern and northern parts of Nepal.

This trip is very famous for turquoise lakes, challenging Chola pass [5,368 meters/17,611ft], and the world’s famous Everest Base Camp. After the successful scale of the Everest by Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa in 1953, and Khumbu valley has been become a more touristic destination, due to its unbelievable beauty of nature, the uniqueness of Buddhist culture, and warm hospitality Sherpa people. At the moment hundreds and thousands of tourists visit Khumbu valley every season.

The classic Gokyo, Chola Pass, and Everest Base Camp Trek offer glowing White Mountains views and very stimulating trip. The region is rich in flora and fauna. The rhododendron tree blooms throughout the hedgerows splashing the color of joy and perfection. And, ground-hugging rhododendron, juniper, and alpine flowers.   Introduction of the Trail

 Our journey begins with the 35 minutes of scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla Hillary airport 2,860 meters (9,383ft). From here, we will trek along the Dudh Koshi River, and reach Namche Bazaar (the capital of Sherpa people) through the famous mountaineer Sherpa villages and dense forests. We will go through villages like Phakding, Manju, Khumjung, Dole, and Machhermo before reaching Namche Bazar.

During the trip, the trail passes countless Buddhist people inhabited villages and the mani walls, beautifully carved prayer stones, prayer flags, gompas, shops, Sherpa’s cultivated farmlands, jungle, tributaries, and well-made suspension bridges with breathtaking mountain views. And then not touching the Everest base camp trail, we will continue trekking from Kyangjuma to Gokyo fifth Lake then get into Gokyo valley where we will explore the fifth Lake, huge Ngozumpa glacier along with panoramic views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Cho Oyu, Mt. Makalu, and Mt. Lhotse.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu Trivuwan international airport 1,350 meters (4,429ft), transfers to Hotel

Accommodation: 3 Stars standard of Hotel in Thamel.

Transportation: Tourist bus or car.

Meals: Welcome Dinner, Breakfast, and including drinks.

Welcome to the land of white glowing mountains. Before your landing in Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, the representative from Himalayan Diamond Adventure will have reached there to welcome you. After landing your aircraft, we come to pick you up with our welcome greetings. Collecting your luggage, we drop you off to Hotel. This evening company will organize welcome dinner in the Nepali cultural dance restaurant with your guide’s briefing about the day program of tomorrow.

Day 02: Scenic flight; early in the morning (Kathmandu to Lukla) & trek to Phakding village.

Maximum Elevation: 2,860m (9,383 ft).

Trekking hours: 2.5 hrs, 200m descent, 50m ascent

Accommodation: Lodge.

Meals: Lunch, Dinner, Breakfast with hot drinks.

We will have 35 minutes of a scenic mountain flight in the morning from Kathmandu to Lukla Hillary airport, the most famous airport in the world. If the weather is favorable, during the flight, we will be sightseeing the most magnificent view of northern and eastern Himalaya vistas before our landing in Lukla airstrip 2,860 meters (9,383ft). After a few minutes’ breaks in Lukla bazaar, we set out our scenic journey to Phakding village. It’s a way of 2 hrs and 30 minutes for a normal trekker. It is an easy day for regular hikers. Then our trail leads through the famous mountaineering Sherpa villages. Such as lodges, shops, gompas (monasteries), mani walls, prayer stones, flapping prayer flags, and two well-made suspension bridges and tributaries of Dudh Koshi (Milk River). Entirely day today we will delightful experience. The trail moves ahead to Phakding 2,610 meters (8,563ft) with making lots of ups and downs. Phakding is a small bunch of Sherpa villages, where we will find clean and comfortable lodges, shops, and internet service.

Day 03: Head over to Namche bazaar, the capital of Sherpa people.

Elevation: 3,440 meters (11,286 ft).

Trekking hours: 5 hours, 1000m ascent, 100m descent

Accommodation: Lodge the attached bathroom.

Meals: B, L, D with hot drinks.

Today we journey to Namche bazaar 3,440 meters (11,286 ft), the main entrance gateway of Khumbu valley. It is known for the Sherpa capital, It is naturally and culturally rich. Where is the availability of luxurious Hotels, banks, shops, trekking equipment, and climbing gears, bakery, and café, bar-restaurant, and governmental administrative offices for Sagarmatha Pollution Control Community (SPCC) with  Internet services? Today several times we walk uphill. It takes about 5 to 6 hours for a normal trekker from Phakding. Leaving Phakding our trail slightly ascends up following the Dudh Koshi River to the confluence of Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi River (Dovan). Finally, we climb the snaked up way approach to Namche. Today we cross 5 well-made suspension bridges, over sparking Dudh Khosi River including Hillary Bridge and few small wooden bridges, such as authentic Buddhist cultured places, Mani walls, prayer Stones, waterfalls,  tributaries of Dudh Koshi River, rhododendron, and blue pine’s forests with Magnificent Mount Thamserku view and some neighboring mountains view. During the trip hours, probably the wild animals and birds can appear on the way, such as Himalayan goat (Thar), Jharals, musk deer and Himalayan pheasant Laphoforous (Danphe) a colorful bird.

About 2 to 3 hours of walk from Phakding village we reach Sagarmatha National Park's main entry gate at Jorsalle. Where is the required permit of traveler? We make a short break to present our permit in the Checkpoint and then we carry on towards to next stop for the lunch break. After crossing the second suspension bridge of Jorsalle village then there is no availability of Lodges and Restaurants, so whether trekkers have to reach Namche or eat lunch at the last place of Jorsalle. Everyone has that dream to see Mt. Everest one time in life being closed up. It comes true today if the weather will be clear on the Everest side. After short climbing from Hillary bridge, Mount Everest will be visible in front of us.

Day 04: We go on a hike to the Everest View Hotel for the stupendous panoramic mountains view.

Visit: Khumjung village and Hillary school.

Accommodation: Lodge.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner with hot drinks.

After breakfast, we go on a hike to the Everest View Hotel, established at the highest elevation in the world, 3,870 meters (12,697ft), for majestic Mountains view. During the day trip, the Everest view hotel's garden offers the best panoramic view of Everest, Amadablam, Thamserku, Lhotse, and Taboche and many more other neighboring Mountains. Then our journey continues to Khumjung village for the worth sightseeing. After the wonderful side trip of Sherpa authentic Khumjung village. We head back to Namche Bazaar with splendid views. At the end of our side trip, we visit the mountain museum in Namche. Today there are lots of options to visit. Go hiking to Thame valley or little hiking into the Namche Bazar.

Day 05: Trek to Phortse Thanga, with bird's eye view.

Trekking duration: 4 hours, ascent 530m, descent 290m

After the usual breakfast time, we check out for Phortse Thanga [3,680 meters/12,073 ft]. On the first stage, we make a pleasant trek along the popular EBC trekking route. The trail is like a high way, about an hour of walk from Namche, then Gokyo Lake trail separates with EBC high way. We ascend steeply up to Mongla Danda [3,900 meters/12,795ft], with spectacular surrounding mounts view. Mongla Danda is the fabulous viewpoint for the panoramic view. We stop here for the refreshment and hot lunch. After an hour of lunch break, we trek down to the Phortse Thenga ravine valley. It lies on the bank of Dudh Khola. There is a good organization for trekkers.

Day 06: Phorche Thenga to Machhermo uphill trail.

Trekking duration: 6 hours, ascent 730m

After the regular morning activities, we start our journey for Mochhermo 4,470m (14,665ft). Today on the first stage, we climb steeply uphill to Dole village under the blue pine, rhododendron, and birch mixed forest. About 2 hours and 30 minutes of tough uphill walking we reach Dole then the trail turns into a pleasant day but it is considerable with altitude. After crossing Dole village again need the next short steeply uphill walk to reach Laphorma Sherpa inhabited village and then our trail gets easier for a further walk. The day is harder than the last couple of days, however, the day passes with magnificent landscape. Today, entirely day the landscape is Dominated by Mt Cholatse view.

Day 07: Trek to Gokyo Lake (Dudh Pokhari)

Trekking duration: 4 hours, ascent 350m

Today, we trek to Gokyo Lake [4,790 meters/15,715ft]. It is dramatically beautiful with turquoise color, calmness, and spectacular mountain's reflection on Lakes. The lodges are in the line up in the bank of the Lake. On the first stage, we gradually ascend uphill trail for a short distance, then our trail leads to the edge of Dudh Khola. While you trekking along the ridge of Dudh Khola, there are good views of south Kantega 6,685m and north Cho Oyu 8,201m the sixth -highest mountain in the world. On your right hand, you can see Nala and in front the Ngozumpa glacier and on your left hand probably you can see Gokyo Ri 5,380m.

On the mid-stage of the journey, reaches Ngozumpa glacier then our trail gets harder. The trail towards Gokyo Lakes below the giant rocky hill. And then the trail leads onto rugged or moraine. On the moraine, our trail is indicated by cairns. Just a couple of minutes slogging on the moraine, It magically appears beautiful lakes. The unique Lakes offer ultimate of pleasant views to trekkers though the trekkers can forget to fatigue. It is probably the most picturesque day for nature lovers in the last couple of days. With the final, effort we reach third Gokyo Lake with spellbinding views.

Day 08: Hike to Gokyo Ri [5,357 meters/17,575 ft],  for different angle’s backdrop views:

This morning we climb Gokyo Ri [5,380 meters/17,650 ft], at the first light for a captivating mountain view. On a clear day, we can see majestic panoramic mountain views. There are come along with 4 over [8,000 meters /26,246 ft], mountains such as Mt. Cho Oyu [8,201 meters/26,906 ft], Mt. Everest [8,848 meters/29,029 ft], Mt. Lhotse [8,516 meters/27,939 ft], and Mt. Makalu [8,463 meters/27,765ft], and like a sprawling mushrooms neighboring mountains view. Gokyo Ri is the best viewpoint for beautiful Gokyo Lakes Dudh Pokhari and Ngozumpa glacier).

Day 09: Exploration of Ngozumpa glacier and trek to Thagnag:

Trekking duration: 2 hours, 120m ascent, 100m descent

After the morning breakfast, we hike to Fifth Lake following up the edge of the Ngozumpa glacier. About 2 hours of walking onto the moraine we reach Gokyo fifth Lake. It is an enchanting lake with a reflection of the view of the mountains. At lunch hour, we come back to our lodge. The end of the day we leave for

Thagnag (4,700 meters/15,420 ft). To reach Thagnag we traverse onto the Ngozumpa glacier making the long walk, about 2 hours of glacier trail each Thagnag.

Day 10: The moraine trail rises up to Cho La pass [5,375 meters/17,634ft]:

Today is a tough day for trekkers. The trail goes over breathless Cho La pass [5,375m/17,634ft]. During the day the trail passes moraine, glaciers, rocks, and avalanches fall zones. Probably the high risk of avalanche in the snowfall seasons. And during the high pass, there is no availability of the Tea house or Lodge before reaching Zonglha. Since to keep away from risks we can carry enough packed lunch and water, Tea, Coffee, and some cold drinks from our lodge and we can start our trip at dawn with the headlamp just for one day.

Day 11: Trek to Gorap-she, catch up EBC trail.

Trekking duration: 6 hours, ascent 300m descent 100m

After breakfast, we kick off towards the famous Everest Base Camp trail. Leaving from Dzongla, our route straightly leads to Lobuche through summer Yaks grassing lands, and then the EBC trail slightly ascends up following the edge of Khumbu glacier to Gorap-she, the last permanent settlement of Everest Base Camp. Today is an easy day than the last couple of days but the high altitude is very thinkable of the day. Today several times we walk onto gravel stones or massive stones, with magnificent towering peaks view. About 5 to 6 hours of gentle uphill trek we reach Gorap-she.

Day 12: Trek to EBC, the final destination, and switch back to Pheriche.

Maximum Elevation: 5,364 meters (17,598 ft).

Trekking hours: 5 hours, 200m ascent, 200 descent for EBC.

Back trek: to Pheriche 4 hours, 750m descent,70m ascent

We are very excited to touch Everest Base Camp [5,400 meters/17,716 ft]. After regular morning activities, we head out for Everest base camp. The trekking route moves towards Everest base camp through stones, gravels, and glaciers with magnificent mounts view. If there is snowfall season on a sunny day, the stones can fall along the way, so we have to pay attention to rocks fall. After 2 hours of glacier walk, we reach Everest Base Camp. There are we can meet many mountain climbers, Sherpa, guides, suppliers (Yaks), and Trekkers on the way of Everest Base Camp in the climbing season. The EBC is a full house with a sprawling climber's tents, Cairnes, and fluttering Longdars. It looks awesome. It is really great day for adventure dreamers. After taking some joyful time, capturing some Khumbu Icefall pictures with our faces, we switch back to Gorap-She for hot lunch. After fabulous EBC trek, we switch back to Pheriche via almost the same way.

Day 13: Head back to Namche bazaar almost via the same route.

Elevation: 3,440 meters (11,286 ft).

Trekking hours: 9 hours, 420m ascent, 1300m descent.

Accommodation: Lodge with a well-attached bathroom.

Meals: Breakfast/ Lunch/Dinner with hot drinks

After a carried off to Everest base camp trek, today we trek back to Namche bazaar via the almost the same way. We take departure to Pangboche following downstream for a short walk then trail rises up to Tengboche monastery, and then trail steeply drops to Phungi Thanga, Cross well-made suspension bridge over Dudh Koshi River, then the trail moves to Namche gently ascending up on a long walk. Overall, our journey waves many up and down. Overnight in lodge included dinner and breakfast service with hot drinks like tea and coffee.

Day 14: Finally we trek back to Lukla, where our trip ends.

Elevation: 2,860 meters (9,383 ft).

Trekking hours: 8 hours, 960m descent, 250m ascent.

Accommodation: Lodge.

Meals: Breakfast/ Lunch/ Dinner with hot drinks

Departing from Namche bazaar, the Sherpa capital, we trek to the downhill meeting point Dudh Koshi River and Bhote Kosi River. It calls Dovan in Nepali language. Then the trail weaves up and down many times to reach Lukla, the fabulous trip ending point of the Everest base camp trek. Today we will celebrate our fascinating trek with some drinking and dancing or sharing some presents. 

Day 15: We will take 35 minutes of scenic flight Lukla to Kathmandu. Transfer to Hotel.

Elevation: 1,350 meters (4,429 ft).

Transportation: Aeroplane/ Tourist bus/ Car.

Accommodation: 3 Stars standard of Hotel in Thamel.

Meals: Breakfast.

After carried out Everest base camp trekking, we will fly back to Kathmandu Trivuwan international airport and transfer to Hotel included bed and breakfast service. Evening we will organize a farewell dinner.

Day 16 Full day Sightseeing of Kathmandu Valley 1,350 meters (4,429ft), with a proficient tour guide, private vehicle service:

Permits: Entry Permits of Patan, Bhaktapur, and Kathmandu.

Accommodation: 3 Stars standard of Hotel in Thamel.

Meals: Farewell Dinner and Breakfast.

Kathmandu, being a (UNESCO the world heritage sites), historical and cultural heart of Nepal, is a popular destination for tourists, trekkers, and adventure seekers. The city presents a wonderful mixture of Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism, and Western influence in the Valley. Patan and Bhaktapur are its two major neighboring cities that bear immense historical, cultural, and religious significance. There will be a half-day guided tour to the famous & biggest Hindu shrine Pashupatinath temple, the largest Buddhist stupa in town Boudhanath, the 15th-century palace of 55 windows Bhaktapur and Soyambhunath Stupa. In the evening, we again meet fare-well dinner.

Day 17: Departure for home, drop you off in Tribhuwan Kathmandu international airport, see you off:

We drop off you in Tribhuwan international airport at the terminal room in your flight checking time by tourist Bus or a Car and forbade the hands to see you off to your home.

Guide/ Porter service:

We have a different category of guides, such as Porter guides, Trekking guides, Support Climbing guides, Mountain guides, French-speaking guides, German-speaking guides, Chinese speaking guides, Culture tour leaders, as your requirement.

Equipment/ Gears service:

We provide you (-25*C) down-filled sleeping bag and (-20*C) down-filled jacket (Pay extra $2 each item each day). For mountaineers if you do not have your own climbing gear we will provide you climbing gears on hire at a reasonable price particularly for your convenience, such Union of International Alpinist Association (UIAA) tested gears. Like a Black Diamond, Helmet, Harness, Crampon, Jumar ATC guide or Figure of 8, Ice axe, Carabiners, and La Sportiva alpine boot.

We provide you with sufficient and hygienic meals and dessert with hot drinks as your choice and book clean and comfortable rooms (hotel) on a mountain in advance of your trip to mountain lodges.

Packaging trips service:

There are more than 300 different trekking routes and 326 peaks open for climbing including 20 royalty-free peaks. Climbing peaks have been divided in 3 categories: A, B and C. in Nepal, we will help you to organize the trip according to your time, budget and choice. We organize the trip for especial solitary (alone) personal as well as packaged trips for big groups.

Our Extra services:

We also help you to get permits, hiring trekking equipment and other related services i.e. bus reservation, airplane ticketing, and hotel booking in Kathmandu and in Mountain.

The conditions stated in the itinerary are especially for the trekker who prefers full package service. At the same time, we also customize an itinerary based on your choice and time. The selection of itineraries and the staff depends on your needs and financial procurement. We have options for any partial visit as per your requirement and financial condition.
