The trip typically takes 11 to 12 days, depending on the trekker's pace and ability to walk for 3 to 8 hours a day. Much of the trail is well-developed, making it easier for trekkers to navigate.

Accommodation and meal options on the way to Everest Base Camp vary depending on the location and altitude. The trekking trail features a variety of tea houses and lodges that offer basic to luxurious accommodation for trekkers. The higher the altitude, the more basic the accommodation options become.

In lower elevations, trekkers can expect luxurious lodges with shared facilities such as bathrooms and toilets, as well as private rooms with western-style toilets and electricity. The rooms usually have two wooden beds with basic bedding such as blankets and pillows provided. As you climb higher, the lodges become more basic with limited electricity and hot water. At higher elevations, such as Gorak Shep, accommodations are very basic with shared bathrooms and no running water.

Regarding meals, the tea houses and lodges on the trail offer a variety of dishes including Nepali, Indian, and Western cuisine. Trekkers can expect simple and hearty meals that are freshly prepared using local ingredients. Popular dishes include dal bhat (rice, lentil soup, and vegetables), momos (dumplings filled with meat or vegetables), and noodles. Breakfast options may include eggs, bread, porridge, and pancakes.

03. What Is The Best Time Of A Year To Do EBC Trek?

The best time to do the Everest Base Camp trek is during the pre-monsoon (March, April, and May) and post-monsoon (September, October, and November) seasons. Trekking during December, February, and August is possible, but the recommended months are the spring (April to May) and late autumn (September to mid-November) when the skies are clear, temperatures are mild, and there is an abundance of natural beauty to enjoy, such as blooming rhododendron flowers and breathtaking mountain views. If you have the opportunity to trek during these months, it is highly recommended.

04. How Long Does It Take To Do The EBC Trek?

The winter season from December to February has temperatures dropping to -18 degrees Celsius so it is not suitable for higher altitude trek.

You have to apply for an extension of your Nepal visa before it expires. If you apply afterward, you will have overstayed your visa, and you can be fined or even detained or arrested. You can extend a tourist visa for 15 days for a fee of USD 45. You have to pay an additional USD 3 for every day after that.
